I believe we are in the throes of everyone’s childhood nightmare…
CHICKEN POX!
Ian has a crazy rash all over his face, and it’s spreading. It certainly has all the signs of C-Pox, so, I guess… here we go! Our neighbor has already asked if she can have Ian come play so he can infect her kids. Is that not the weirdest thing? “You have the chicken pox?!? Oh man! Can you come over and be around my kids so they get it too??” I’ve never quite understood that, but perhaps it’s cause I have never had them as an adult.
Hope I am still “immune”…
Well… we’re going to try the home remedies and I’m sure we’ll be getting a lot of advice over the next week or so. But for now, Ian just itches. A lot.
Our kids got the vaccine. Usually c-pox starts with a fever…
Don’t know about the fever.. but he was hot last night?
This waws an episode of the Simpsons. Maggie got the pox. Homer started charging parents so their kids could come over so they could get it.
I remember taking warm baths with baking soda. I don’t know if it worked since it was like 25 years ago.
I think it’s something you mostly just tough out. Once you’re done with it, you’re done with it. Unlike most of the other crap we deal with in life.
My kids didn’t start with a fever. They just had spots and then more spots and then more spots! We tried unsuccessfully to infect Caleb and Jessi Falke! They were even in Ashen’s dog cage together playing and the Falke kids never got it! Talk about resilient!
