Apple Event September 5th

Another Apple Event is just around the corner. Apple is planning to hold a special event on September 5th, according to Arstechnica. Most rumor sites are expecting Apple’s updated line of iPods to be revealed, including a possible full screen video iPod. (The iPhone without the Phone.) Also rumored, iPhone Nanos and video-capable Nanos. (Perhaps the same thing?)

I don’t think we’ll see a smaller iPhone… but, ya never know.

Stay tuned to my Apple blog for details.

UPDATE: Apple officially sent out invites to the event today, it’s pictured above. There are some interesting things about the invite that most likely point to 1) an ipod-related event, 2) an iPod with CoverFlow view (much like on the iPhone?), and 3) the phrase “the beat goes on” was in the Beatles’ final press release. Perhaps we’ll finally see the Beatles at iTunes on the 5th?

Alone

I’m alone today. Grandma & Grandpa took Jen & the kids to the NY State Fair today! I have some new projects I am working on, and a Bills show to record tonight, so I stayed here.

It’s very weird, having no one around. Especially when there are always five other people here. πŸ™‚

Well, it’s been a good time of getting caught up on stuff (except these unfinished blog posts!) and even a cool moment of some unveiling of issues I was (purposely, and not purposely) ignoring. God allowed me to see them, and work through some of that with him. Perhaps that came from the quiet of the day.

I do have much to do, but at the next turn I plan to blast through at least one or two of the unfinished articles here. πŸ™‚

Hope your day goes well, and that you have at least a moment or two of “aloneness” with the one who is always with you.

Great Words!

I have noticed lately that I use a lot of words that are not really words. Including quite often on this blog! I noticed that a commercial I saw also used one of these psuedo english words. They are words formed from the incorrect pronunciation of two or more words. I figured it might be fun to compile a list of the ones I like the best, and use most frequently. Feel free to add to the list in the comments πŸ™‚

  • gonna (going to)
  • lemme (let me)
  • musta (must have)
  • wanna (want to)
  • imunna (I’m going to)

I’ll add some more as I remember them… πŸ™‚

Bloggifying

Every once in a while… the blog gets all backed up. I have about 5 or 6 blogs in the queue… at various stages of completion. It’s been a full week of working on various things (like an interview with Brian Moorman for the Buffalo Bills Review tonight) and now working on a video project for some friends. They just got back from a trip to the Dominican Republic. Plus there are a few new jobs I am setting up, as well as still trying to sell our trailer.

Stay tuned… there will be a content explosion sometime soon at GregsHead.net…

Just thought I’d warn you. πŸ˜‰

Monk

Monk Season Four DVDAnyone out there watch the show Monk? We stumbled upon it (as I do with most TV) as a free video from iTunes maybe even a couple years ago. It’s been around for a while, but on USA, so perhaps you’ve not heard of it.

The premise is that Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is a genius detective whose attention to detail solves many crimes, but went way off the deep end when his wife died. He has an assistant who tends to his many needs from his many phobias, and a pretty funny cast for the police dept he works with. Tony Shalhoub is a pretty funny actor, and plays the part of Monk perfectly.

We just borrowed Season Four from the library, and watched it over a couple weeks. Great stuff. The show is not rough, overly violent, sexual, or just bad in general. The language is occasionally rougher than your TV from the 80s (what we usually watch) but it’s infrequently so, and overall very clever writing.. just a fun show.

The best part is, I have noticed probably another reason I like the show. Maybe Jen, too. I am a bit like Monk! πŸ™‚ The character is exaggerated, but I really do need things to be in their place before I can relax. Monk will enter a room and can’t do anything else until he straightens things on desks, window blinds, etc. Before we sit down to watch the show, I must put everything back in its place in the room. πŸ™‚

Pretty funny.

I don’t think I’m neurotic, but I definitely do have those tendencies. Just, in small doses.

So, if you’ve never checked it out, put it in your Netflix queue, or check your local library. Good stuff.

Ice Cream Record Books?

I have noticed recently that my 31 straight days of ice cream in the month of July was not really that hard to do. Without really trying, I have added now 19 more days to that total (and maybe a few more from before!)

On July 4th I told some friends that I wanted to eat ice cream every day for National Ice Cream Month (July) and one friend was incredulous that I had already had ice cream four days in a row. “I’ve never done that!” said he.

I now officially have more than a dozen times over. πŸ™‚

I’ll let you know when I miss a day.

Blueberry Hill

Isn’t there a song about blueberry hill? I know it was the name of the hill behind the main part of Mountainview Christian Camp where I have spent several weeks of several summers of my life. But tonight, though there weren’t really any noticeable hills… I’d say we visited THE blueberry hill!

We’re in Clarence at the moment, visiting with Jen’s mom & dad. The kids love visits to Grandma & Grandpa’s and this time, Mom & Dad stayed too! πŸ™‚ We went to the Bills game last night – it was a blast, read about it here – and then today we played football, visited with some friends, saw another friend off on a trip to Africa, played more football, and then took a trip down to East Otto, NY to Burdick’s Blueberries.

The experience begins by heading as far into the middle of nowhere as you possibly can. Then, once you’re there, you “check in” by weighing your blueberry containers before they are filled… whereupon you are whisked away in a giant blue pickup truck (further into the middle of nowhere) to your row of blueberry bushes. The help walk you to a specific spot and tell you to begin picking here and go that direction, making sure to strip off all the ripe berries.

(Blueberry picking is serious business!) πŸ™‚

We had a blast! Picked (and ATE!) blueberries for about an hour I’d say! When we got there, one branch of one of our assigned bushes had bent to the ground – perfect for Julia!!! And our little Julia LOVES fruit!!! So, she stood there and picked and ate blueberries – at least 2 or 3 dozen – for the first 20 minutes or so while we picked elsewhere. Too cute!

After the big blueberry fest was over, we rode the blue pickup back to the home base and weighed in. We had almost 20 POUNDS of blueberries!!! Ha! That’s a LOT of blueberries!!! They taste great, and we’re going to be having lots of great blueberry-related foods for a while. I guess they freeze pretty well, too.

So, after we left the super fun blueberry place, we shared a meal at Ponderosa together. That used to be a more frequent outing for the Walker clan, but I think size and grandkids growing up have been factors in making it a much more rare – and special – occasion. We had a very nice meal (still full now!) and then came back home.

Tomorrow we spend the day at the fair. Jen’s dad is preaching there in the morning, and we’re hoping to get some fun in either before it rains, or in between the rain drops. Wish us luck. (It’s looking pretty rainy…)

Much more to come here at GregsHead.net. I’m wishing I had wireless internet… πŸ™‚ BUT, I am typing this blog from my in-laws’ computer (a Windows computer) using Safari! It looks amazing! It’s almost… almost close to what I would see on my Mac! Now that’s impressive!!

Until after the crazy weekend…
