I know, you probably think I’m crazy. But I actually considered buying a plane ticket to go down to NYC today just to be there for the opening of the biggest and first 24-hour Apple Store on the planet. I mean, come on… it’s in my own state…
But, alas, the funds (and other obligations) prohibited me from partaking in such festivities.
Perhaps this is the next best thing?
(In case you are not prone to clicking on “hidden links”, Apple has posted time lapse “movies” of the activity outside the new store, and will continue to do so for the first 24 hours. The link takes you to the page where you can click and watch all of those hour-long “movies”. Fun!) ๐
I fail to see the usefulness of such a place when we have the internet at our disposal. It’s a bit of a waste of resources, don’t you think?
You have clearly never been to an Apple Retail Store. ๐
What you said is like saying, “We have video games, I fail to see the usefulness of amusement parks.”
Apple Retail Stores are an experience. And the Fifth Avenue one kicks it up several notches. ๐
I’ll let you know when one comes near Melbourne, so you can experience for yourself. Or, when you come back to Victor, make sure you stop by Eastview! ๐
i have to say i can’t imagine there being such an apple emergency as to have to go at 3am…
Not as much an emergency as just the joy of the possibility of being at an apple store 24 hours of any day, any time. ๐
You know, it’s funny, but I’ve been to an apple retail store (the one in Eastview and one in Columbus), and I’m not sure what all the fuss is about. I mean, I walk in and see lots of semi-shiny things around, none of which I can afford. I like that apple laptops have lit keyboards. Unfortunately, going to a store to stare at them and marvel at their lighted-ness just doesn’t really get me going in the morning.
And frankly, I prefer a good session of “Warcraft III” over a trip to the amusement park … I get motion-sickness on roller coasters or anything else that spins, which eliminates about 95% of most parks …
My loss, I suppose …
